This policy explains what Skyrule collects, why, who else handles it, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it. It covers the Skyrule website and web app (together, "Skyrule"). "We", "us" and "our" mean the operator named above.
Some of what is below is labelled permanent. Those promises do not change when this policy is updated (see section 14). Everything else describes our practice on the effective date above.
1. Where Skyrule is offered
Skyrule is offered to people in the United States only.
2. What we collect about you
Your account. Your email address, and the information needed to sign you in through an account with our sign-in provider, Clerk.
Your own birth details. Astrology is calculated from a birth date, time and place, so what we store depends on what you ask Skyrule to do:
If you use only features that need your Sun sign, we store your Sun sign. We do not store your birth date, birth time or birth place for those features.
Whenever a feature needs your full chart, free or paid, we ask for your birth date, birth time and birth place, we store them, and we ask for your consent before we do. A birth chart cannot be calculated without them.
Your full birth details are visible only to your own account. We treat them with the same care whatever their legal classification.
Your choices in the app. The goals you pick from our list and the kind of relationship you tell us each person is (for example partner, child, parent, friend or colleague). Goals are chosen from a fixed list. There is no free-text question box and no notes field.
Payments. Payments are handled by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. Stripe tells us .
Technical data. When you use Skyrule our servers receive your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages and features you request. We keep server logs for 30 days.
Product analytics. We measure how the app is used with PostHog under a random identifier. Analytics never receives your birth details, your Sun, Moon or rising sign, or the nickname of anyone you add. We do not record your screen or your sessions.
Cookies and similar storage. We use cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, to run checkout, and for the analytics above. We do not use advertising cookies.
What we never collect. We do not ask for or keep photos of anyone you add, free-text notes about anyone, or the legal name of anyone you add. We do not collect precise location.
3. People you add
You can add the people in your life to Skyrule. Most of them have not signed up for Skyrule and have not agreed to anything. This section is about them.
You choose a nickname for each person. We do not ask for their name, and nobody can look them up across accounts.
For most people you add, we store only which of the twelve signs each of seven bodies was in when they were born. We do not ask for their birth time or birth place, and we do not store their birth date, time or place. Those seven signs are enough to place a birth within a few days, so we protect them as birth data.
You can add someone's full birth details (date, time and place) in two cases only: they are your own child and under 18, or they gave you their birth details themselves. We ask which applies at the time you add them, and we keep a record of your answer, when you gave it, and the wording you were shown.
When you add details about someone else, you are responsible for having them and for adding them. We are responsible for how we store, use and protect them.
A person's full chart is visible only to the account that added it. Nobody else in Skyrule can see it, including people in your groups.
Adding someone never notifies them or sends them anything. (Permanent; see section 14.)
You can delete anyone you added at any time (see section 9).
4. If you think someone has added you
We never collect the names of people who are added, and we keep no contact details for them. That is deliberate: it means nobody can use Skyrule to find you or contact you.
It also means we cannot search for you. A birth date, time and place matches everyone born at that time in that place, so it does not tell us who you are. The person who added you can delete the entry at any time, and when they do, your details are deleted with it.
If you write to us, we will explain this, and we will not ask you for more personal information in order to look for you.
6. Children
You must be at least 13 to use Skyrule or to pay for it. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we close it and delete its data.
Details you add about your own child. You can add your own child under 18 with their full birth details. Those details are never included in any export or sharing feature, and no other member of any group is told anything about your child.
When your child turns 18, we do not delete their details, change them, or ask you to enter them again. The reason you gave us was true when you gave it, and we keep that record with its date. From then on they are the person best placed to decide: you can keep the details, ask them, or delete the entry at any time.
"My own child, under 18" is a reason you can give when you add someone. It is not a reason you can give about an adult. If an adult gives you their own birth details, choose that reason instead.
7. How we use information
We use the information above only to:
calculate charts and timing, and show you readings for the people and goals you choose;
run your account, sign you in, and keep the service secure;
take payments, issue refunds, and keep the records the law requires;
send you messages you need (receipts, renewal notices, sign-in links) and notifications you have
turned on;
answer your messages; and
understand, in aggregate, which features are used, so we can fix and improve them.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We will never target marketing by star sign. (Permanent.)
8. How readings are written, and how AI is used
Skyrule's readings are drawn from a library of interpretations prepared from historical astrological texts. Most of what you read was written before you asked for it, on computers we control, for every combination of placements, relationship kind and goal. Nothing about you is involved in that writing.
When you ask for a reading that combines several people, an AI model writes that summary on demand. It receives the prepared writing selected for your combination. It does not receive anyone's birth date, birth time, birth place, name or nickname.
At this time, no outside AI provider processes your personal information; we will update this policy before any does.
People at Skyrule review the material the AI writes from, the instructions it follows, and samples of what it writes. Not every reading is read by a person before you see it.
Readings may describe how a period could feel between people. That comes from the charts, not from anything about how you use the app.
We will never use the app to guess how you are feeling from what you do in it, and nothing in the app watches for signs of distress. (Permanent.)
We do not use your birth details, or the details of anyone you add, to train AI models.
9. Deleting, and how long we keep things
People you add. When you delete someone, their details are removed from Skyrule immediately, and from our backups within 30 days.
Your account. You can delete your account at any time from Account → Settings → Delete account. Your birth details, the people you added, your group memberships, and anything we stored about your timing with other people are deleted with it: immediately from the live service, and from our backups within 30 days. Unused purchased credits are deleted with the account, and the deletion screen tells you so before you confirm.
While your account is open we keep what is in it, and we do not delete it on your behalf without telling you.
Payment and tax records (amounts, dates, and what was bought — not birth details) are kept for 7 years because the law requires it.
Consent records (what you agreed to, when, and the words shown) are kept for 3 years, including after you change a choice, because they are how we show what you agreed to at the time.
10. Who else handles your information
We use a small number of service providers to run Skyrule. Each may use your information only to provide its service to us. The providers are listed here:

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid court order. If Skyrule's business is transferred to another owner, this policy and its permanent promises go with it.
11. Security
Information you send to Skyrule travels encrypted (HTTPS). Payment details are entered on Stripe's checkout and do not pass through our servers.
12. Your choices and rights
Wherever you live in the United States, you can:
see the personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
correct it — correcting a saved person's birth details is free, always;
delete it, as described in section 9;
turn off group notifications and sharing at any time (section 5).
Write to tayler.erbe@gmail.com from the email address on your account. We answer within 30 days. We will not charge you for a request and will not treat you differently for making one. Details you added about your own child are not included in any copy or export (section 6).
California residents.
13. Data breaches
If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.
14. Promises, and changes to this policy
Permanent. These do not change with any version of this policy:
We will never use the app to guess how you are feeling from what you do in it, and nothing in the
app watches for signs of distress.
We will never target marketing by star sign.
We will never send a message to someone because another person typed their details into Skyrule.
We will never tell you to contact, or not to contact, anyone.
Versioned. The rest of this policy describes our practice on the effective date. If we change what we collect or how we use it, we update this page and its date first, and we tell account holders by email at least 30 days before a material change takes effect. A change never applies to information collected before it in a way that is less protective, unless you agree.
